My story
From Spa Rooms to Scented Calm
I’m Gemma, founder of Luna Candles—a wellness-inspired brand rooted in my lifelong passion for helping people feel calm, cared for, and connected to themselves.
My journey began as a spa therapist in five-star hotels like The Scotsman in Edinburgh, where I trained with luxury brands ESPA and Cowshed. After having my two daughters, I worked freelance in beauty and weddings before creating Restore—my own space for facials, massage, and moments of peace.
While still running Restore, I started exploring candle making as a way to combine scent, mood, and self-care. When I paused treatments in 2020, Luna naturally became my full focus.
What began as a small creative shift has grown into a brand I’m incredibly proud of—now stocked in beautiful spaces like Stobo Castle, loved locally across Scotland, and continuing to grow.
Luna Candles are designed for real life—whether you're juggling work and family, resetting after a busy day, or simply carving out five quiet minutes. Each candle is hand-poured with purpose, to help you pause, light and unwind.
our wax
Our Rapeseed and Coconut wax certainly has excellent credentials regarding sustainability. Most of the coconut used in our wax comes from small holder farmers in the Philippines or Indonesia (approximately one third of Filipino farmers and their families make their living from coconut production). There is no forest removal in order to plant new coco trees and all farming contacts are closely monitored in that regard. Furthermore, our supplier is pioneering a programme to train more farmers on sustainable coconut agricultural practices.
Our supplier has advised that the rapeseed used is produced by large farmers in a range of European countries, and that rapeseed isn't associated with sustainability issues such as endangering habitats, forest clearance, etc.
